Today internet giant Google and Swiss-based Nestle threw the world for a loop when they officially announced Android 4.4, they had chosen a brand-name chocolate treat Kitkat as its latest version.(not Key Lime Pie). The BBC who was able to get the inside scoop on the deal, where they sat down with John Lagerling, Android’s director of global partnerships.
In the interview, Lagerling he patted Google and new bff Nestle on the back for keeping such a massive deal not unveiling. Not a single leak could be make out in public or not even any hints. All of this despite the 2 giants meeting back and discussing the deal, finalizing the deal within the hour, in this duration they convinced Hershey in the US to get on board the project, and start production for packaging of 50 million KitKat bars featuring the Android and kitkat tie-in kicking off over 2 months ago. One can say that's amazing job done.
After
all this unveiling, financial terms weren't disclosed for the sweet
deal between Google and Hershey Co., which makes Kit Kat.
Google
approached Hershey about six to nine months ago for permission to use
the name, said Jennifer Podhajsky, vice-president of U.S. chocolate
at Hershey, which licenses the Kit Kat brand in the U.S. while Nestle
owns the worldwide brand.
The
Android 4.4 KitKat system is expected to launch in October. The
software is now running on more than 750 million smartphones and
tablets throughout the world, making it the world's most widely used
mobile operating system.
