Ionic Framework 4.0 Released: Everything You Need to Know

Ionic is an open-source SDK for hybrid mobile app development created by Max Lynch, Ben Sperry and Adam Bradley of Drifty Co. in 2013. Ionic Framework released Ionic Framework version 4.0. The release is a complete rebuild of the popular JavaScript framework for developing mobile and desktop apps.

Earlier Ionic was built using Angular components, this new version has instead been built using Web Components. This important update changes the whole ball game for the project. This means Ionic Framework is now an app development framework that can be used alongside any front-end frameworks, not only Angular.

Ionic 4 comes with usage of its own CLI to that of the underlying framework to give developers the most out of their framework’s ecosystem. The official Vue.js and React Ionic bindings are in alpha at the time of the Ionic 4 release.
In the new update of this version, Ionic’s UI controls are now based on Web Component APIs, they can generally work out-of-the-box in all major frontend frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, etc.).
One of the biggest changes under this version of Ionic framework 4.0 is the move to using native CSS Custom Properties, also known as CSS Variables, in each component.
To get started with Ionic 4, install or update the Ionic CLI and then start an application:
npm install -g ionic
ionic start my-app
Or you can consult an ionic app development company to create mobile applications in Ionic framework.
